It’s a favorite spot for stocking up on family essentials, but one house-brand product may contain elevated toxin levels.

A Beloved National Grocer Has Issued a Sizable Vegetable Recall

Heaven knows there’s a lot of conversation right now about nutrition and chemicals as they pertain to children. Food dyes, fluoride, vitamins and even fish oil, which most medical doctors have only recommended for adults, have raised a lot of questions.
But today it’s a toxin that’s been on public radar for decades that has led to a recall on a mass amount of Target’s Good & Gather baby food.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently announced a nationwide recall for 25,600 units of Good & Gather Baby Pea, Zucchini, Kale & Thyme Vegetable Puree. Good & Gather is a Target-owned brand with more than 2,500 products in its portfolio.
The has FDA categorized the recall as a Class II event due to an “elevated level of lead.” The Class II designation, assigned April 3, means the agency believes the products “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health effects.”
The FDA has previously published guidance concerning how much lead is acceptable in processed foods for babies and young children, noting: “Even low lead exposure can harm children’s health and development, specifically the brain and nervous system.”
The recalling firm, FRUSELVA USA of Miami, Florida, is “a world leader baby food co-manufacturer” with a listed factory in Colombia, per the company website.
